Three cheers for a real (and needed) leader!!

Ann Minch is starting a movement that gets to the core of what so many Americans need.

Watch the video (the link is below) and you'll see what I mean. Many thanks to Dirk for sending it my way! This is so important that I've posted it on both of my blogs.

What a leader does

Last night President Obama called on congress and the senate to pass a bill that would help all Americans lead more healthy lives. That's really what it's all about. Giving Americans the opportunity to be secure in the area of healthcare. Too many people go without medical care for fear of losing their savings, choosing between a doctor's visit and food, having surgery or losing their home. What kind of system is that?!

We are supposed to be the wealthiest country in the world, yet...people go bankrupt because of healthcare costs...huh?! As a nation, shouldn't we be able to make sure that everyone has health insurance.

If we have enough money to start wars and "rebuild" other countries - why don't we have enough to take care of our own citizens when it comes to their health.

It's time! And the President made an excellent case for it in his speech last night.

Let the man lead

I don't get why there's such an uproar about the President giving a speech to school children. Aren't Presidents supposed to reach out to all the people? Why does every move he makes become an item for the opposition to jump on?

There's something infantile about protesting the President speaking to children. Perhaps he should ask his opponents to sit in a classroom and let him read a book to them. Maybe he should start with the constitution, then the Bill of Rights, and end with Eisenhower's Fairwell Speech and the Gettysburg Address. But they'd probably say it was socialism if he uses a public school and politicize that whole situation anyway. It's sad that our politicians have become such bickering twits.
