These are both great advances in driver safety. But I must question the ethics behind only having them only in Mercedes models. Why couldn't the company license these safety features to other manufacturers? They could even make the other auto companies note that they're using Mercedes technology. But again...it's profits before people.
Saving lives should be the primary factor but it's not. So - only those who can afford the luxury of a Mercedes will be spared from possibly falling asleep at the wheel or drifting into an accident in the next lane over. I just don't get it.
Sure the shareholders might be upset. However, the royalties from the other manufacturers should offset any lose in direct car sales reveues.
Leadership in everyone's safety should override profits for a few.
